Refuah Shelayma to Yaakov Ben Esther

[Excerpt from http://yaakovbenesther.com/ ]
Yaakov Shore is 21 and was just completing his army service as a combat soldier in Nachal Charedi. He was born in Miami and made Aliyah from Toronto when he was 10. He studied in Ateres Yisrael in Jerusalem and Waterbury in Connecticut.

On Monday, May 23rd, 2011 Yaakov was hit by a car while rollerblading by the Malcha Mall in Jerusalem. He was taken to Hadassah Ein Keren hospital with serious head trauma and a compound fracture of his right leg. He is currently in the ICU and has been put into an induced coma.

A couple of Yaakov’s strongest character traits are that:

1. He never complains (and he had lots of good causes to)
2. He never blames others (and he could have with good reason)

We are asking people to try focus on trying to be more sensitive in those areas in his merit. It will be good for all of us. READ FULL ARTICLE AT AISH.COM

Torah Codes - Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan on the 5th of Adar.

I was watching a video by Rabbi Matisyahu Glazerson Torah Codes Carmel Fire and I happened to notice some other interesting words on the screen, so I ran to pull out my Artscroll Chumash and started searching for more. Look below and see some interesting words, phrases that I found. The source is Parshat Vayelech in the Book of  Deuteronomy - this section of the  parsha is dealing with Hashem talking to Moshe regarding the End of Days.

To me this emphasizes the lesson that EVERYTHING is in fact contained within our Holy Torah.
What was, what is and what will be.

Good Shabbos.

On the 7th day G-d rested?

In 6 days G-d created the world. On the 7th day He rested. But Gd doesn't need rest. He is not human. Therefore, we have to understand it as follows: Each day of creation Gd was creating another Mask "The Masks of Nature." On Shabbat He rested. He rested from creating Masks. Shabbat is a special day where Hashem is not creating any masks. If we observe Shabbat properly we can enjoy a special closeness with our Creator that can only be achieved on Shabbat.
(I heard this concept on http://Torahmedia.com )
Shabbat Shalom

Life and Death are in the Hands of the Tongue

מָוֶת וְחַיִּים בְּיַד לָשׁוֹן lit trans: "Life and Death are in the Hands of the Tongue"- Mishlei.

Speech has both the power to bring about death and/or bring about life. Notice how this pasuk uses the term "in the HANDS" It is amazing how relevant this term is for our days - Today Lashon Hara (bad mouthing, slander, gossip, etc) can be done easily using our Hands. (i.e., via chat, status updates, tweets, blogs, etc) Suggestion: Always think twice before clicking send.
